Today, we live in a world where almost everything has become digital, including the printing design industry. Now, we call it "print on demand." The best part about this is that anyone has access to it. You don't even have to be a designer to create designs for these products. For example: t-shirts, mugs, pillows, and more. Print-on-demand websites like Red Bubble and Zazzle provide these products for you. All you need is a design.

There are a variety of free tools available to get started, whether you're doing it for business or as a hobby. There are so many possibilities. So, I just want to share some of these tools with you if you're interested in exploring this creative field.

Canva:

This post cannot continue without mentioning Canva. You can either use their website or download the app. I love using Canva on my tablet. The interface is so simple, and you just drag and drop items onto your design. Even if you don't know how to design, there are thousands of pre-designed templates to choose from, making it easy for beginners to get started. Not to mention they have a library filled with tons of stock images, graphics, and beautiful fonts.

This 2023 version of Canva has added some major new features. My personal favorite is the text-to-image generator. Which is powered by AI. You can easily generate unique graphics by typing in a phrase. Another great feature I love is, when you upload an image to Canva, the app or website will automatically generates designs using with that image. It Will createa layout where you can easily customize the colors and font.

The free version of Canva is really powerful. You still have access to many features, such as the ability to export your graphics in high-quality files like JPEG, PNG, and PDF. This is especially helpful when printing your designs.

Google Docs

I'm sure you've probably heard of Microsoft Office before. Google Docs is similar to that, and it's free. If you already have a Google account, you can easily get started. Google Docs is simple and has the essential features necessary for creating designs. For example, it has basic elements you can use to create a design layout for business cards and letterhead. Features you can use to create your designs include basic shapes, inserting images, tables, checklists, and formatting text. It does have templates, but not as extensive as Canva's. Google Docs is perfect for anyone who is not looking to be overwhelmed by a ton of features.

Desygner

I'd never heard of this app before until it was recommended to me by a friend. So I recently downloaded it from the Google Play Store. It was surprisingly easy to use. It has a wide range of templates, images, graphics, and fonts. If you're looking for a Canva alternative, You definitely should consider Desygner.

Conclusion

The digitalization of the printing design industry has resulted in the creation of print-on-demand, making it available to anybody. Tools like Canva, Google Docs, and Desygner provide free and user-friendly platforms for designing graphics for products like t-shirts and mugs. Canva distinguishes itself with a huge template collection, AI-powered capabilities, and high-quality file export possibilities.
